Joined Alibaba.com in November 2018

Sara has been running account management and onboarding for the US team since November 2018, and is dedicated to making the experience of selling overseas as seamless as possible. When she's not busy addressing supplier concerns or developing programs to maximize seller success, Sara enjoys spending her free time with friends and family, perfecting her yoga flow, and hitting the beach. Find out why Sara loves working at Alibaba.com:

What sets Alibaba.com apart?

I think what makes Alibaba unique and different is that we really, really try to be customer-first, especially in the US office. People here genuinely care about the success of both suppliers and buyers in the US. It isn't all revenue, revenue, revenue — it's about making the platform into something people actually want to use that will make them successful.

What advice do you have for sellers to find success on Alibaba.com?

It's important to present your products in a positive light and with as much information as possible. Make sure you have hi-res images, interesting copy, and all of the details that are really important for the buyer to want to engage with you. Your buyers need to be able to trust you, and a big part of building trust and loyalty is delivering on your promises. If you say you're going to ship something out in 15 days, ship it out in 15 days.

What's the most rewarding part of working at Alibaba.com?

You hear all of these people's stories about starting their business from the ground up, and then you get to make an impact on that story. Vassilaros & Sons coffee is a good example. If you're in New York, basically any bodega on the street sells Vassilaros coffee. They're using Alibaba.com to start selling more of their brand, because they're not a known brand even though everyone in New York has probably drank their coffee, and to get more into B2B. We get to help them diversify what they've already been successful doing.
