How a US manufacturer expanded his domestic and global sales on Alibaba.com
Scott Vaughn
Founder of BRAH Electric

"It was incredible that we received so many RFQs (Requests for Quotations) at the last trade show, and we’re looking forward to the next. I’m excited to continue expanding my business on Alibaba.com."

Story

Scott Vaughn founded BRAH Electric, a San Clemente, California-based electrical products manufacturing company, that designs and manufactures aftermarket parts to replace obsolete or hard-to-find equipment as well as popular items like bus plugs and controls.

Since starting the company in 2015, Scott’s sales channels included working with distributors and making in-person sales calls. But when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, in-person sales went away, and Scott wasn’t seeing an increase in customers through his distributor. He knew he needed to connect and create relationships with his customers digitally to expand his growth both domestically and internationally.

Solution

Scott explored a number of large ecommerce platforms, but due to the volume of global demand he received on Alibaba.com, he saw a quick return on his investment and really focused his efforts on expanding his presence and reaching new prospects on the platform.

According to Scott, “Alibaba.com is a massive marketing opportunity. I can’t think of another platform that has as much reach for manufacturing solutions, and because the platform focuses on B2B, we have been able to get more of our key target customers.”

Success

After just a few months on Alibaba.com, BRAH Electric received new business inquiries from around the world, including France, Malaysia, Thailand, and Croatia. As part of his push on the platform, Scott joined Alibaba.com’s virtual trade show, the Global Products Expo: Made in the USA, in early 2021 where the company generated over 100 new leads during the course of just two weeks.

Scott added, “It was incredible that we received so many RFQs (Requests for Quotations) at the last trade show, and we’re looking forward to the next. I’m excited to continue expanding my business on Alibaba.com.”
